Portfolio companies include Healthcare Management Systems, an enterprise-wide technology platform servicing the full needs of growing community hospitals including specialty units such as behavioral health, long term care and ambulatory clinics; MEDHOST, a provider of leading healthcare throughput and emergency department software with a proven return on investment using sophisticated charge capture capability and products such as OpCenter, which addresses inpatient flow and bed management for operational and bottom line improvement; Sentry Healthcare Services, Inc. a financial and operational service provider to hospitals with a broad array of hospital information systems. Management Team
HealthTech Holdings (HHI)
Bill Anderson, Chairman of HealthTech Holdings, Inc., assumed this role upon the acquisition of MEDHOST. Mr. Anderson is also President of Eclectic Capital Corporation which manages a pool of private funds invested in public and private entities. He has over 30 years of experience in the technology and financial industries. He has served as CEO of several companies including Universal Tax Systems, Inc., Bankrate, Inc. and Block Financial Corporation, as well as 19 years at KPMG Peat Marwick.
Kenny Barfield, General Counsel, joined HealthTech Holdings, Inc. and its affiliates in May 2010 and is responsible for oversight of legal matters. Prior to joining the group, he served as VP Legal for CCH Small Firm Services and Assistant General Counsel for Wolters Kluwer Tax and Accounting. Beginning in 1993, Mr. Barfield served in roles as Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Chief Financial Officer for Universal Tax Systems, Inc. , a tax and accounting software and electronic tax return transmitter company, which was acquired by Wolters Kluwer/CCH in 2006. He was licensed as a CPA in the state of Georgia in 1985 and is a member of the State Bar of Tennessee and Georgia.
Daniel Hart, Vice President, Corporate Development, joined HMS in 2009 and HealthTech Holdings, Inc. in 2010. He is responsible for overall corporate development and related project management, including strategic partnerships and M&A. Mr. Hart has more than 16 years of experience working in various strategy, consulting, and sales and marketing roles. Prior to joining HealthTech, he served eight years at Dell, Inc. in a variety of management functions, most recently as Marketing Director, U.S. Corporate Channels. He has also held positions at the consulting firm Spectrem Group.
Alan MacLamroc, Chief Technology Officer, joined HealthTech Holdings, Inc., in August 2011 and is responsible for product management and product engineering. Mr. MacLamroc has more than 20 years of technology management experience. Previously, he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Product and Technology Officer of CDC Software International, an enterprise software company with a complete range of SaaS and on-premise products. Prior to CDC, he served as Chief Technology Officer at CompuCredit, Chief Product and Technology Officer for MAPICS, Inc., and Chief Technology Officer at Clarus. He has also served in a variety of senior technology management positions at System Software Associates (SSA), IBM and Sprint.
Carol Murdock, Chief Marketing Officer, joined HMS in 2009 and HealthTech Holdings, Inc. in 2010. She is responsible for Strategy and Sales Support including lead generation and management, Communications, Business Intelligence and Pricing. Ms. Murdock has more than 20 years experience in healthcare, focusing on strategic management, marketing and business development. Prior to HMS, she was the Senior Vice President of Account Management and later Senior Vice President Marketing and Communications for Healthways, Inc. She was also the President and CEO of Coactive Systems Corporation and the Senior VP of Business Development for OrNda Healthcorp.
Terry Pefanis, Chief Financial Officer of Healthtech Holdings, Inc., joined May 2010 and is responsible for financial operations of HHI. Mr. Pefanis was self employed from January 2008 to April 2010 where he started two companies and consulted with of a variety of other companies in operating and financial matters. He was Chief Operating Officer of Big Idea, an animation studio, from February 2003 until January 2008. He held various operating and financial positions, including Chief Financial Officer of the Creative Content Division, of Gaylord Entertainment Company and related entities from 1994 to 2002. Prior thereto, he worked for Price Waterhouse from 1983 to 1994.
Todd Redmon, Vice President of Customer Support, joined HMS in 2010 and HealthTech Holdings, Inc., in 2011. Mr. Redmon is responsible for the company's customer support centers, as well as strategic initiatives to enhance customer loyalty and improve efficiency and the customer experience. Previously, he held a series of leadership positions in operations, manufacturing and support over a period of 10 years with Dell. Most recently, he was responsible for a 500-employee call center serving global commercial services with technical support and solutions via phone/chat/email for multiple hardware, software and network customer needs in the U.S., Canada and Europe.
Geoff Roten, Chief Information Officer, oversees the development and growth of HealthTech's Hosting and Managed Services. In addition, he is responsible for providing strategic direction to internal systems and infrastructure management across all HHI companies. Mr. Roten has 20 years' experience in the healthcare industry including service in leadership roles at Ardent Health Services, Province Healthcare, Community Health Systems and as managing partner of NorthStar Technology Consulting, LLC.
Carla Stephenson, Vice President, Human Resources, joined HMS in August 2005 and HealthTech Holdings, Inc. in 2010. Prior to HMS, Ms. Stephenson spent five years as the HR Director for 180 Connect and six years as the Area Manager for Spherion Staffing Services.
Healthcare Management Systems
Tom Stephenson, President and Chief Executive Officer; Mr. Stephenson started with HMS soon after its conception in 1985 as a programmer and worked his way to his current leadership position in 2005. In this position, he develops and leads the HMS executive team and provides strategic direction for the company – including recapitalization of the company in 2007, stewardship of the platform through its first CCHIT certification in 2007, and its recent ONC-ATCB certification by the Drummond Group. Prior to his role as CEO, Mr. Stephenson has held the positions of Chief Operating Officer, Vice President of Customer Services and programmer/analyst.
Steve Starkey, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, was also one of the founding programmers of the HMS system. In 1998, he left to help several other healthcare companies before re-joining HMS in 2005 as Vice President of Research and Development. Now, as COO, he oversees and manages all daily HMS operations,including Product Development, Programming, Quality Assurance, Customer Support Services, Documentation, Implementation, Education and Consulting Services. Steve served as Director of Information Systems at Community Health Systems, CIO at Behavioral Healthcare Corporation and CIO at Ardent Health before returning to HMS.
MEDHOST
Craig Herrod, President, has led the company to become the recognized leader in Emergency Department Information Systems. Under Herrod’s leadership, MEDHOST has been named “#1 Best in KLAS” for the second consecutive year as detailed in the “Top 20 Year End Best in KLAS” report for 2005. To maintain high levels of customer service, Herrod instills in his colleagues the notion that developing strong customer relationships directly results in continuous success in the market. Mr. Herrod and his team acheived early certification in November 2010 of MEDHOST EDIS Version 4.2 from the Drummond Group.
Doug Stewart, Senior Vice President, Administration, helps guide company decision making alongside fellow colleagues. He is responsible for the overall management and stability of MEDHOST. Among his major accountabilities are spearheading the development of a high-performance plan, overseeing the company's performance, and monitoring and managing MEDHOST's key risks.
Sentry Healthcare Services
Randall Cothron, Vice President of Sentry Healthcare Services, LLC, has over 28 years of healthcare operations experience. As Vice President of Sentry, Mr. Cothron is responsible for company operations, overseeing Receivables Management, Document Management, Contract Management and Patient Statement and e-Payment Solutions. He previously held positions as the Director of Consulting Services and Vice President of Professional Services. Earlier in his career, Mr. Cothron was the District Assistant Vice President with Quorum Health Resources. He also is an advanced member of Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA).
